The British Home Office (BHO) has warned that it will make a decision on whether to approve the sale of erectile dysfunction drugs such as Viagra.
The BHO says that it would advise a consultation with the pharmacist to make a decision on whether the drug is suitable for sale.
The BHO said in its decision to approve the sale of Viagra to the public, the pharmaceutical industry had been trying to get the drug off the market in the last six months.
BHO Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said: “This is a sensitive issue for the public.
“I have no comment at this time.
“There is no specific reason to change the decision, but we will advise the pharmacist on how to make that decision.”
The BHO has said that it is “under a lot of pressure” to make the decision.
BHO chief executive Andrew Lansley said: “The pharmaceutical industry has a very difficult time making sure drugs are sold by the pharmacists and not sold by the wholesaler, because of the cost.”
The BHO has also warned against any proposal to have any restrictions on the sale of Viagra in the UK.
In January, the BHO released an analysis of the drug market that revealed that about 30 per cent of the prescriptions written in the UK were for erectile dysfunction.
It found that a further 14 per cent were for “psychogenic” erectile dysfunction.
There was also a large number of men who were not able to get or maintain an erection when they were taking a medication such as Viagra.
The BHO has said that it would not make any recommendation on the sale of erectile dysfunction drugs over the counter.
The BHO has said that it will consider the issue of whether the sale of Viagra to the public is appropriate.
A spokesperson for the pharmaceutical industry said: “We have to address this issue in a timely and effective way, and we are committed to doing so.
“We are also working on ways to protect public health by providing effective drugs for all.
“Our Pharmaceutical Services Service is also working with pharmacists to provide information on our website which is important to them and to those in similar situations.
“This is the way we do our business and we will take care of all this with a very friendly and helpful service.
“Our pharmacists are a very friendly and helpful service and will be a great help to us.”
